Carbondale Police are searching for a man wanted for an attempted abduction Wednesday morning.

Officers say while walking to school on the north side of East College Street, a teenage girl saw a man near The Fields Apartments complex at 700 South Lewis Lane. The man called out to her, but she ignored him. He then ran across the street and grabbed her around the waist.
After the girl broke free of his grasp, the suspect quickly crossed College Street, disappearing behind a building on the west side of the Fields Apartments complex. The teenage girl returned home to contact police.

The suspect is described as a white male possibly in his mid-40's with blond hair and green eyes. He had a "scruffy" blond beard and spoke with a southern accent. He was last seen wearing a long sleeved black shirt, blue jeans, and Timberland boots. He also carried a wallet with a chain attached.

Anyone with information on his whereabouts should contact Carbondale Police or Crime Stoppers at 549-COPS.
