Carbondale Police Issue A Fraud Alert

Logo

Carbondale Police are investigating an identity theft claim.
Officers say the fraud complaint occurred in the 1300 block of East Main Street.  During the course of the investigation, officers learned individuals were using stolen identities to obtain services and goods.  They say the fraud was developed to target citizen's cell phone accounts.  The investigation into this incident has led to a multi-state and multi-jurisdiction investigation.

The Carbondale Police Department would like to encourage the public to check their cell phone bills for any unauthorized charges or device or equipment purchases and to also check their credit reports for any fraudulent activity or fraudulent accounts.

If anyone has located any fraudulent activity on their credit report, or on any of their current accounts, they should contact their local law enforcement agency for more information on how to file a report.
