Cairo Residents Asked to Help with Photo Project

cyburbia.org

Cairo residents are needed to help with the development of a comprehensive plan in their town.

The group GCR from New Orleans is leading the effort to focus on ways the town can create jobs and increase the quality of life there. It's encouraging people of all ages to grab a disposable camera from the Cairo Public Library between now and Saturday to help with a Community Photojournalism Project. Participants are being asked to take pictures of their daily lives in Cairo, focusing on what they like best and least about their hometown.

Many of the photos will be displayed this summer as an art installation and incorporated into the final plan.
The cameras should be returned to the Cairo Public Library for processing by Saturday. Also on Saturday, volunteers will walk through neighborhoods in Cairo to log the quality and types of properties they see. The Housing and Land Use Survey will be used to make recommendations regarding future land use and development. Volunteers should be meet at the Cairo Public Library Saturday at 9 a.m.
