The City of Carbondale will hold a primary election to determine the nominees for City Council.
Monday was the last day for candidates to file petitions. Deputy City Clerk Jennifer Sorrell says 14 candidates filed so a city primary will be held on February 26th for the three open council seats. Under city law, the field of candidates must be reduced to six for April’s municipal election.
A lottery for placement on the primary ballot will take place on December 4th. Lee Fronabarger is the only incumbent council member who filed for re-election. The other individuals seeking a council seat are Carolin Harvey, Brent Ritzel, Blaine Tisdale, Jessica Bradshaw, Lorena Masterson, Navreet Kang, William Graham, Jerrold Hennrich, Carl Flowers, Luke Adams Jr., Karim Abdullah, Tony Holsey, and Pepper Holder.
