And since no college invited Stacey and Cardiff to give a commencement speech, they're taking to the podcast to offer their own brand of evidence-based wisdom for new college grads.

Washington, D.C. – A southern Illinois Congressman is behind a bill to improve the rail service offered by Amtrak.

Collinsville Republican John Shimkus voted for the Passenger Rail Investment and Improvement Act of 2008.

It would require Amtrak to implement an improved accounting and financial reporting system, submit a report on the revenues and costs of each route and to submit a five-year business plan.

Ina, IL – A previously closed campground at Rend Lake is re-opening...
The Army Corps of Engineers released funds that will allow for the opening of the South Marcum campground.
The Corps announced in February that the campground would be closed all season because of funding cuts. But the St. Louis District recently received some funds that were previously collected to pay for a new computer reservation system.
Rend lake will receive $51,500 and Carlyle Lake will receive $15,000.

Crossville, IL – A white county roadway is closed due to flooding.

The Illinois Department of Transportation says Route 14 east of Crossville near the Fox River Bridge will be closed indefinitely until the flood waters recede.

Motorists are urged to follow the marked detour route.

Carbondale – A WHITE COUNTY ROADWAY IS CLOSED DUE TO FLOODING.
THE ILLINOIS DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION SAYS ROUTE 14 EAST OF CROSSVILLE - NEAR THE FOX RIVER BRIDGE - WILL BE CLOSED INDEFINITELY UNTIL THE FLOOD WATERS RECEDE.
MOTORISTS ARE URGED TO FOLLOW THE MARKED DETOUR ROUTE.

Carbondale – WSIU TV CHANNEL 8 AND D-TV CHANNEL 40 WILL BE OFF THE AIR ON MONDAY, JUNE 16TH BEGINNING AT 5:30AM.
THE OUTAGE IS FOR PLANNED MAINTENANCE WORK ON THE TV STATION'S ANTENNA.
THE OUTAGE IS EXPECTED TO LAST FOR SEVERAL HOURS.
