Kids with chronic conditions are especially vulnerable to health insurance changes, relying as they often do on specialists and medications that may not be covered if they switch plans. A recent study finds that these transitions can leave kids and their families financially vulnerable as well.

The first thing you may notice about Great News, a comedy premiering Tuesday night on NBC, is its similarities to 30 Rock. Here, a news producer named Katie (Briga Heelan) has her work life disrupted when her boss (Adam Campbell) hires her loving but overbearing mom (the great Andrea Martin, late of SCTV and truckloads of comedy since then) as an intern at the station. And while the focus is news rather than late night, the frustrated goofball at the center of a constantly careening television production has a familiar tone.

Lawrence County, IL – The National Weather Service has issued a Flash Flood Warning for a levee failure along the Wabash River in Lawrence County.
The Warning is in effect until 12:30pm Friday, and focuses on an area 2-3 miles north of St. Francisville.
Officials say the levee along the west side of the Wabash River may fail this morning, sending water into the area to around Illinois Route 1.

Washington, D.C. – A southern Illinois Congressman is behind a bill to improve the rail service offered by Amtrak.

Collinsville Republican John Shimkus voted for the Passenger Rail Investment and Improvement Act of 2008.

It would require Amtrak to implement an improved accounting and financial reporting system, submit a report on the revenues and costs of each route and to submit a five-year business plan.

Ina, IL – A previously closed campground at Rend Lake is re-opening...
The Army Corps of Engineers released funds that will allow for the opening of the South Marcum campground.
The Corps announced in February that the campground would be closed all season because of funding cuts. But the St. Louis District recently received some funds that were previously collected to pay for a new computer reservation system.
Rend lake will receive $51,500 and Carlyle Lake will receive $15,000.
